We started Virturidr because virtual cycling shouldn’t feel lonely. It should feel like an event — with energy, competition, and people in the same room cheering each other on.
Virturidr started in 2022 when we noticed something obvious: people who loved cycling indoors were doing it alone. The technology was incredible, but the experience was isolating.
So we built something different. We took the best virtual cycling platforms — Zwift, Rouvy, MyWhoosh — and combined them with what makes any event memorable: real people in the same room, big screens, energy, and a bit of friendly competition.
Today we run virtual cycling events for companies, training programs for athletes, and home setup consultations across Denmark. Same idea every time: cycling shouldn’t feel lonely.
The bikes and screens are tools. The point is the people in the room. Every event we run starts with that.
🔧We bring everything, set everything up, host the event, and pack everything down. You show up. That’s the deal.
🎯The bikes and screens are tools. The point is the people in the room. Every event we run starts with that.

Marcel Moesgaard founded Virturidr in Copenhagen — but the story really starts much earlier. Sport has been part of life since age 6: tennis, swimming, strength training, running, and nine years of triathlon (with three half Ironmans along the way). Add to that 25 years flying as a captain for SAS, and you get a founder who treats events the way you’d want them treated: prepared, on time, and without drama.
Virtual cycling came into the picture in 2017 — first as a way to keep triathlon training going through Danish winters, then as something much bigger. The community on Zwift turned a basement training session into something social. Marcel co-founded Danish Zwift Racers, which grew to nearly 400 members across Denmark, coordinating teams for leagues and races worldwide.
Today Marcel also serves on the Danish Cycling Union’s e-cycling committee, working to grow the sport in Denmark — and brings that same community-first approach to every Virturidr event.
Background
Alongside Virturidr, Marcel founded Copenhagen Virtual Cycling — a non-profit association built on a simple idea: virtual cycling shouldn’t be limited to people with the space and budget for their own setup.
Members pay a modest monthly fee and get access to a fully equipped, plug-and-play training space in Copenhagen. They show up, change clothes, and ride. The setup, the platform, the screens, the sound — it’s all already running.
The same equipment, expertise, and community thinking is what powers every Virturidr corporate event.
CVC operates from a dedicated space in Copenhagen — meaning corporate events can be hosted on-site instead of always needing a venue.
🤝Members ride together weekly. The energy you’ll feel at a Virturidr event isn’t manufactured — it’s the same atmosphere that’s been growing here for years.
🚴From Postnord Danmark Rundt to cycling expos and on-site company events, the format has been tested and refined in the real world.
