FAQ
Hvad er Virtual Cycling
Virtual cycling, has been around for several years. It started when a new method was found that allowed athletes to train indoors when circumstances made it necessary. Initially, people started with stationary trainers where you could attach your own road bike by securing the rear wheel. It then evolved so that you could remove the rear wheel and simply connect your chain to a cassette that was fixed onto the trainer. Further development has now led to the creation of Smartbikes — fully integrated bikes designed exclusively for Virtual Cycling. Some would call it a very advanced exercise bike.
To get the most out of training, software was continuously developed to provide data on the effort put into the pedals. At first, it was a program where you could choose a training plan to follow. Development has now made the software more advanced, providing an immersive training experience. This is done by sending signals from the trainer or Smartbike with data on the pedaling effort, which is received by the software program. The software converts this data into a visual representation of an avatar resembling the rider. You can then place this avatar in different worlds and on various routes. Most stationary trainers and Smartbikes are designed to adjust resistance automatically, for example when you are cycling uphill or climbing a mountain.
Where can the event be held?
Virturidr’s equipment is designed to be very mobile. Therefore, we can come to a location upon request. This could be at a company’s address where there is enough space—such as a cafeteria or a large lobby. If the company already has a sufficiently large training room with good accessibility, it can also take place there.
It will also be possible to hold an event at a location organized by Virturidr, although with a limitation on the number of participants
How many Smartbikes are available?
Virturidr has 10 Tacx Neo Smartbikes.
Do you need to bring your own cycling shoes?
No, it is not necessary to buy your own cycling shoes, as we have pedal adapters that allow you to use regular sneakers. However, if you have your own shoes, you are welcome to bring them. Please note that the pedals are compatible with Look DELTA cleats or Shimano SPD-SH51 mountain bike pedals
How far does Virturidr operate?
We are based in Copenhagen, so as a starting point, we operate within a radius of 40-50 km from Copenhagen. This will be included in the price for an event.
However, we are open to driving further, but this will incur an additional charge for travel fees.
How many participants can there be at an event?
As a starting point, Virturidr has 10 Smartbikes. So it entirely depends on the type of event you want to organize and how long you want to book for. For example, you can have 20 participants at an event by dividing people into teams of 2 and doing a relay race with substitutions. We are open to creating an event that suits your needs, so don’t hesitate to send an inquiry and we will see if it can be arranged.
